Empty Property

Earlier in 2013, the Barry and District Post reported that there were 1461 empty dwellings (homes) in the Vale of Glamorgan - following a Freedom of Information request.

The Vale of Glamorgan as a whole has identified 56 properties unoccupied due to major repairs or structural alteration, 420 properties unoccupied less than six months, 640 properties unoccupied more than six months and 345 properties unoccupied for other reasons.

Retail units - defined as shop, retail warehouse, hotel, hairdressing salon, studio, public house, café, restaurant, bakery, kiosk, bank - where a till would probably be used by the proprietor - identified 320 unoccupied premises.
