Speed audit at the gateway to St Nicholas

A speed audit is currently underway at the eastern gateway to St Nicholas.  A freedom of information request recently found that many vehicles were entering the village at high speeds, including one vehicle recorded just before 3:30pm, the time the primary school day is ending, travelling at 106.3 mph.

The current speed audit (and traffic count) is using both camera/radar technology and pneumatic tubes to record speeds.  It is very likely that this is linked to the necessity to move the 30mph speed limit eastwards and build a new junction into the site proposed for housing in the LDP.

An audit earlier in 2013, found 28,162 vehicles traveling in excess of 34 mph in just one week at one location within the 30 mph zone.
